The first team discussed on this list is Football Club Indiana, or F.C. Indiana for short. As for their nickname, they go by the F.C. Indiana Lionesses. The club was founded in 2000, and they are currently members of the United Women’s Soccer League (UWSL). Throughout the team’s history, the club has won two UWSL titles, defeating the California Storm 5-4 in the 2005 title game and knocking off the New England Mutiny 3-0 two years later in the 2007 title game. Since then, the club has not had as much success, so they will be looking for a return to their glory days in the near future.

The Indiana Fever were founded at the turn of the 21st century in 2000. The team was one of the first expansion franchises into the new Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA). Since then, the team has taken home the WNBA title on one occasion in 2012. That year, they defeated the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA Finals. From 2005 to 2016, the team made the playoffs every season, but they have failed to qualify once since 2016. Their fanbase is certainly hoping that some of their young talent will lead them back to the playoffs soon.

The team that has been in Indiana the longest is the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers are an NBA team that has been around since 1967. Prior to joining the NBA in 1976, the team played nine seasons in the American Basketball Association (ABA). In those nine seasons, the team took home three ABA titles (1970, 1972, 1973). Since coming to the NBA, however, the team has yet to find that same level of success. They did reach the NBA Finals once in 2000, but they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers. Hopefully, for Pacers fans, the team will find its first NBA title in the coming years.

Indianapolis Colts

The oldest franchise out of them all, the Indianapolis Colts, were established way back in 1953 as an NFL expansion franchise. They have not been in Indianapolis that entire time, however. From 1953-1983, they were based in Baltimore, Maryland, and known as the Baltimore Colts. Between the two cities, the Colts have taken home five championships. Three of those were NFL championships while in Baltimore in 1958, 1959, and 1968 prior to the AFL-NFL merger. As for the other two, they are the Colts’ two Super Bowl victories, one in Baltimore in 1970 and one in Indianapolis in 2006. Colts fans will be looking for the team to return to this level of success relatively soon.
