Soccer Penalty Spot
The penalty area is the box at both ends of the pitch surrounding the goal. During a shootout, only the kicker and the goalkeeper are allowed in the box. The head official will stand outside of the box to govern the shootout.
The penalty spot is the designated spot that is marked on the field as a solid circle. It is placed 12 yards away from the center of the goal line. During a shootout, the ball is placed on the spot, and a kick is performed to move the ball off this spot toward the goal.
