The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), which is an American professional field lacrosse organization, was founded in 2018, and the League’s headquarters are located in El Segundo, California. The PLL is a tour-based league and was formed due to the rising popularity of lacrosse throughout the US. The Archers Lacrosse Club is one of the six founding teams of the Premier Lacrosse League. Similar to all other PLL teams, the lacrosse club isn’t tied to a particular location; the Archers play games across the US rather than have a specific city homebase. This, of course, differs from other professional sports such as football and basketball. According to PLL founder Paul Rabil, the name “Archers” is supposed to emulate the concepts “of precision and craft.” As one of the oldest teams in the League, the Archers are a force to be reckoned with on the lacrosse field.

Atlas

The Atlas Lacrosse Club is another founding team that is part of the Premier Lacrosse League. Similar to the Archers, the name “Atlas” was creatively imagined by PLL founder Rabil. The name is meant to embody the concepts of “power and authority.” Although the professional lacrosse team has yet to win a Premier Lacrosse League championship title, the Atlas Lacrosse Club aims to fight its way to the championship game in the upcoming season against other PLL powerhouses. 

Cannons

Founded in 2021, the Cannons Lacrosse Club is one of the newest teams to join the Premier Lacrosse League. Previously, the team was known as the Boston Cannons and played in Boston, Massachusetts before being rebranded as the Cannons Lacrosse Club and adhering to the tour-based model of the PLL. The Cannons LC, due to their inexperience, struggled to win games during its first season. Despite this setback, the Cannons are determined to make a grab for the championship title in the upcoming season.

Chaos

The Chaos Lacrosse Club is another founding team of the Premier Lacrosse League. The name “Chaos,” according to PLL founder Paul Rabil, is supposed to signify “passion and sting.” Despite only playing for a few years, the Chaos Lacrosse Club claimed a Premier Lacrosse League championship title during the 2021 finals against the Whipsnakes. Fans should be on the lookout for potentially another championship by the Chaos LC soon.

Chrome

The Chrome Lacrosse Club is also one of the first lacrosse teams to join the Premier Lacrosse League. The logo and design of the lacrosse team are meant to embody the traits of “strength” and “flair,” according to PLL founder Paul Rabil. Although the team hasn’t won a Premier Lacrosse League championship title yet, the Chrome LC is a highly competitive team in the League. The lacrosse team had a stellar record of 7-3 in the 2021 season. Fans should attend a Chrome Lacrosse game in a city near them to see the exciting competition that the team brings to the field.

Redwoods

Formed in 2019, the Redwoods Lacrosse Club is one of the founding lacrosse teams of the PLL. The design of the Redwoods logo was inspired by the fierceness and robustness of bears. Similar to the Chrome Lacrosse Club, the Redwoods have yet to score a championship title though they got very close in 2019 with a 11-12 loss against the Whipsnakes. Despite their lack of title wins, this lacrosse team’s rankings continue to climb with each season.

Waterdogs

The Waterdogs Lacrosse Club is one of the newest teams added to the Premier Lacrosse League, founded in 2020. Despite their little experience, the Waterdogs won a PPL championship in their first season (2021). However, the team faced a slump in the 2022 season. The Waterdogs closed the season with a total record of 5-5. Given the recent pandemic, the Waterdogs LC has overcome many obstacles, such as limited practices and game time. Don’t dismiss the Waterdogs too soon; this lacrosse team aims to add another PLL championship title this next season.

Whipsnakes

The Whipsnakes Lacrosse Club, which was formed in 2019, is the reigning powerhouse team of the PLL. The name “Whipsnakes,” according to Premier Lacrosse League founder Paul Rabil, was inspired by the “whip” shot style that many lacrosse players have. The Whipsnakes LC has two championship titles under its belt and was named the top team in the 2022 season. Fans of lacrosse will be blown away by the Whipsnakes’ highly competitive play style and passion for the game.
