Kickball is similar to baseball and softball in that the player positions are nearly identical. The number of players on a kickball team will vary based on the level of play and the rules of the league.
The 3rd Baseman
3rd Baseman Responsibilities
As a third baseman, your responsibilities are the following:
- catch kicked kickballs that enter his area, including outside the left foul line or in shallow left field.
- cover third base to get baserunners out
- be able to throw the kickball to first base where most outs are made
- make double plays with the second baseman and fist baseman
Fielding Ground Balls
He often fields ground balls, which are kickballs hit fast and low to the ground so that they bounce. Since ground balls travel very quickly, it is important for infielders to get a hold of them quickly so they can throw the baserunner out.
