What is the best way to describe the scoring system in ice hockey?
Before we define a goal, let's make sure we understand what the definition of a shot is. A shot is an attempt at hitting the puck into the net or goal cage.
There are two different types of goals:
A disallowed goal is a goal that the referee does not count.
An allowed goal is a goal that counts towards a team's score.
When the puck successfully crosses the imaginary plane of the goal line between the goal posts, that is a goal. Each goal is worth one point.
