TPC Sawgrass is a golf course located in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida that hosts The Players Championship, a signature PGA Tour event, every May. The course is known to be one of the most difficult on tour and is famously recognized for the iconic Par 3 17th hole.
The Players Championship, nicknamed golf's fifth major, is a PGA Tour event played annually at TPC Sawgrass. Up until 2015, this event offered the highest total purse, or price fund, of any PGA Tour tournament ($10.5 million in 2015).
The 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass is one of the most popular in all of golf. The island putting green on this short par 3 is surrounded by water and poses as one of the most intimidating shots in all of golf. This hole makes for great drama at the end of the Players.
The 18th hole at TPC Sawgrass is one of the more imposing finishing holes in all of golf. Water runs down the entire left-hand side of this long Par 4 and wind often times plays a factor when players are deciding the club to hit on the tee shot and approach shot.
