One of the most prestigious universities in the country, MIT has several athletic teams. However, MIT does not field a varsity golf squad.
MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) competes in NCAA Division-3 athletics. Although MIT has 33 varsity sports teams, the university does not have a men's or women's golf team. In recent years, MIT cut multiple sports due to budget constraints, and this included varsity golf.
However, MIT students have created a co-ed golf team, which competes against other club squads in the northeast region. Unlike a varsity team, where the university subsidizes program expenses, club participants must pay for their equipment, greens fees and tournament fees.
