Hockey Goalie Trapezoid
The goalie trapezoid in hockey is a trapezoid area located behind the goals that shows where on the ice the goaltender can leave to play the puck. A minor penalty for delay of game will be given to a goaltender that plays the puck outside of this restricted area. As long as the goaltender keeps a skate on the goal crease, no penalty will be given. This area is also known as the restricted area.
