Old Maid (Card Game) Rules

The game is played with a standard 52 card deck, although other types of cards can be used.

One of the queen cards is removed to create a 51 card deck.

The object of the game is to get rid of all cards in a hand by matching pairs.

The cards are shuffled and passed around by a dealer.

If a player has a pair or pairs of cards in their hand then they remove them and place the cards face down.

Without showing them the cards, the dealer allows the player to the left to take one of the cards from their hand.

If the card the player takes makes a pair they place that pair face down on the table.

Then the player to the left of that player takes one of their cards without seeing the cards.

The game ends when all pairs are placed on the table.

The player with the lone queen card loses.
