Can You Use Your Hands In Futsal?

can you use your hands in futsal

In futsal, there are several rules regarding using your hands. The first and most important rule is that the goalies are the only two players that are allowed to use their hands in futsal. Goalies are permitted to use their hands to stop, distribute and pick up the ball only when they are in their own penalty box. When a goalie is outside of their own penalty box, they are not allowed to use their hands under any circumstance.

Additionally, goalies are not allowed to use their hands to score a goal. While in their own penalty box, they may use their hands to roll or throw the ball out to their teammate but they may not throw it directly into the opposing team's net.

Normal field players are not allowed to use their hands under any circumstance in futsal. If a field player uses their hands to impact the play or stop the ball, they will be penalized.

Although there are several differences between traditional outdoor soccer and futsal, the rules relating to hand balls remain the same. In traditional soccer and futsal, the only player that is allowed to use their hands is the goalie. The goalie may only use their hands in their own penalty box. The goalie may use their hands to block, stop, catch or distribute the ball to their teammates in both traditional outdoor soccer and futsal. In traditional outdoor soccer, the goalie's penalty box is much bigger than the goalie's penalty box in futsal, however the dimensions are scaled to be proportionate to the field's dimensions.

In both futsal and traditional outdoor soccer, field players are not allowed to use their hands under any circumstances. If a field player uses their hands in both futsal and traditional outdoor soccer, the play will be blown dead and a free kick will be awarded to the opposing team.
