Football Field Lines
The following field lines are on a football field:
Let's discuss each one.
Football End Lines
The sidelines and end lines make up the perimeter of a football field. Together they also form the boundary lines dividing the field between inbounds and out of bounds. We'll learn more about the boundary lines in Football Bounds.
Football Goal Lines
Football Yard lines
Every ten yards is a big white number located on the yard lines. These field numbers help fans and players keep track of where they are on the field. They also assign a name to each yard line.
Football 50 Yard Line
On a football field, yard lines count up from one to 50 on both sides of the field. As a result, there are duplicates of every yard line. For example, there are multiple 1-yard lines, 2-yard lines, 3-yard lines, and so on, but only one 50 yard line!
The 50 yard line is located at the middle of the field and divides it equally into two pieces.
REMEMBER: There is only one 50 yard line. If someone refers to the 1-yard line, 2-yard line, 3-yard line, and so on, up to the 49-yard line, you'll need to ask them on which side of the field they are referring to since there are duplicates of each yard line.
