What is the 2nd Half in Football?
The 2nd half in football is the second of two halves in a football game. The 2nd half consists of two quarters of game time, the 3rd and 4th quarters. The 2nd half begins after halftime. Whichever team has the ball at the end of the 1st quarter retains the ball at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Conversely, this possession does not carry over after halftime. The team who received the ball first at the beginning of the game will be kicking the ball to the other team at the beginning of the 2nd half.
The winner of the game is determined at the end of the 2nd half, or the end of the 4th quarter. At the end of the 2nd half, if the score is tied, the teams will play in overtime to determine a victor. Overtime is not considered a part of the 2nd half.
