Recall that timeouts allow for a team to temporarily stop the game clock at will.
The Two-Minute Warning
The two-minute warning is just like a regular timeout, but for both teams.
When Does It Happen?
The two-minute warning only happens once when there are two (2) minutes or less left in the 2nd and 4th quarters.
If the ball is still in play when the clock hits 2:00, the two-minute warning will only take effect when the scrimmage down ends.
IMPORTANT: only the NFL has the two-minute warning. There is no two-minute warning in college or high school football.
