Basketball Free Throw Shooter

In basketball, the term free throw shooter is used to describe a player who is taking a free throw shot, or has taken a free throw shot. You may hear the term being used to indicate who is shooting a free throw; as in "Jeff is the free throw shooter," or also to describe a player's free throw shooting abilities, as in "Jeff is a great free throw shooter."

Since all basketball players take free throws, every player will be a free throw shooter at some point. That makes it important for all basketball players to practice free throws so that they become great free throw shooters, that is, a player with a high conversion percentage.

Tall and strong players like centers and forwards tend to be worse free throw shooters than smaller players like guards. Shaquille O'Neal, a successful center and TV personality is known to be an amazing player; however, he was a subpar free throw shooter.
