The Basics of the Midwest Region

The March Madness Midwest region in basketball is one of four regions of teams in the tournament. All of the games played within this section of the beginning of the tournament are played within the midwest region of the country and the regional play concludes with one of the 4 Elite 8 games which decides the winner of the region. In the past March Madness tournament this past March, the winner of the Midwest Region was the fifth-seeded Auburn University Tigers, who upset both the first and second seeded teams in the region.

Future Sites in the Midwest Region

For the 2020 March Madness Tournament, there are a few different hosts and sites that games will be played at. For the first and second rounds in the Midwest, the games will be hosted by the Missouri Valley Conference in St. Louis as well as the Mid-American Conference/Cleveland State in Cleveland. For the Sweet 16 and Elite 8 games the Midwest regional games will be hosted by the Horizon League/IUPUI in Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The sole winner left standing in Indianapolis will move onto the Final Four being played in Atlanta.
