After this, Davis declared for the draft and was selected first overall by the New Orleans Hornets (now the New Orleans Pelicans). Davis was great with the Pelicans, making the All-Star game in only his second season and continuing to improve making All Star NBA teams. Even though Davis was great, the team around him was never good, and he never made it far in the playoffs. This resulted in Davis requesting a trade from the Pelicans, and eventually being traded in the 2019 offseason to the Lakers to join Lebron James.

Personal Life

Davis's high school Perspectives Charter School was academically focused on math and science. This meant little attention was placed on athletics and so Davis actually practiced basketball at a nearby church since his school didn't have a gym. Davis never transferred to any of the basketball powerhouses and continued playing for his charter school. Davis then decided to go to the University of Kentucky where he only spent one year before declaring for the draft.
