In this tutorial, we will learn about extra innings and what happens when the score is tied at the end of the 9th inning.

When Does A Baseball Game End?

The away team always bats first in a baseball game. So, a baseball game will only end in the following scenarios:

  1. The home team is in the lead at the end of top-half of the inning
  2. The away team is in the lead at the end of the inning

How Many Extra Innings?

A baseball game will continue for as many extra innings as it takes for either one of these scenarios to occur.
